The Pipe Creek Presbyterian Church is having a Summer Fun Fest Health Fair on Saturday, June 22, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Billed as a “Free Fun-Filled Family Event,” it will include games, kids’ activities, face painting, food trucks, information booths and door prizes. The church is collaborating with the Arthur Nagel Community Clinic and a representative from the clinic will be there. It will be held at the church, located at 8589 Hwy. 16, Pipe Creek. The Lakehills Area Library has begun the summer reading program for kiddos. The theme is “A Universe of Stories” and it is not too late to join the fun. The next meeting is Wednesday, June 26, and the youngsters will hear a storyteller. Go by the library at 7200 FM 1283 to sign up. For more information, call 830-510-2777.
Alamo Resource Conservation & Development is a non-profit serving Bandera County. Through its “Keep It Cool” fan program, they will freely give fans to senior county residents in need on June 28, noon to 3 p.m. at Faith Tabernacle, 7789 FM 1283. They are seeking donations of 20-inch box fans, or money to purchase fans. Call 210-548-9248.
Kudos to the three ladies who created the beautiful quilt that was raffled off at the March Tea held at the Pipe Creek Christian Church. That quilt won First Place at the recent Kerrville Quilt Show. Diana Schuetze, Donna Hannah and Rose Jeter did a fantastic job. They credit Valerie Hannah for her help with the show.
The Pipe Creek Christian School, located at 1990 FM 1283, is enrolling for next school year. They offer classes for Pre-K through 12th grade and use approved curricula and licensed teachers. For more information, call 830-510-6131 or go to pipecreekchristianschool.org.
Lakehills Baptist Church, on FM 1283, at 155 Laurel Vista Dr, will hold their Vacation Bible School June 24 to 28, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, with classes for Pre-K through grade 5. You can register online at lakehillsbaptist.org or call for more information at 830-751-2006.
The Lakehills United Methodist Church and the Pipe Creek Presbyterian Church will hold a joint VBS at the Methodist Church, 150 J St. in Lakehills. It will take place July 8 to 12, from 9 a.m. to Noon. It is for kiddos who have completed Kindergarten through 5th grade. Parents can sign up online at lakehillsumc.org.
This joint VBS will be followed Saturday, July 13, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a “Fun Farm Fair.” For more information on the VBS and the Fair, call 830-751-2404.
On Thursday, June 20, our Medina Lake level was 1064.07 feet. That is down 0.13 feet, which is 99.7 percent capacity.
The Medina River had a flow of 82.5 cfs in Bandera, running 4.36 feet deep at the gage.
