Social media roundtable discussion planned

By Chris Darus
The Bandera Prophet

Patricia Moore, executive director of the Bandera County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau (CVB) opened last night’s EDC meeting with a short presentation. The CVB recently acquired a program to mine Instagram media for photos and videos of Bandera and Bandera County.
Photos in the social media app that are deemed good enough and portray the city and/or county will be culled, and the people who posted them will be contacted by the CVB to ask permission to use those photos to help promote Bandera.
This ties in with a meeting the CVB is hosting next Monday. Social Media and Your Business is a brainstorming roundtable for local businesses to discuss and share their online activities, and how social media helps improve foot traffic and sales. The meeting will be July 15, in the Bandera Electric Co-Op Meeting room. Refreshments will be served at 5:30 p.m., the meeting will begin at 6 p.m. The public is invited and there is no cost to attend. RSVP by either email ([email protected]) or by phone 830-796-3045.
Moore also mentioned a few events happening this weekend in Bandera and the surrounding area.
* The Bandera Rodeo Club's Youth Summer Series Rodeo 2019 at Mansfield Park starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday. There is no cost to attend.
* The Brighter Days Horse Refuge in Pipe Creek will have an event from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Food and interaction with their horses will be available.
* Lost Maples will have "Moon Walk" Saturday night from the office to the remote parking lot. This will be a guided hike down the East Trail to the Pond, entrance fee is $6 for anyone 13 and up.
The walk is a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission that sent Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to the moon where Armstrong stepped foot on the moon on July 20, 1969.
