Fifty years ago today, on July 16, 1969, at 8:32 a.m. GMT, the Apollo 11 Saturn V lifted off from Kennedy Space Center's Launch Complex 39A, with Astronauts Neil A. Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin E. Aldrin Jr. on board and headed to the moon. To commemorate that launch, Lost Maples State Natural Area hosted a Moon Walk on Saturday. Night hikers embarked on a two-hour guided tour through the park, led by the light of the moon and twinkling fireflies.
