Still time to sign up for rate-reducing driving class
By Amy Dee Hawley
Special to the Prophet
There is still time to sign up for the AARP Driving Course. AARP members pay $15 and non-members pay $20. This course may lower your insurance rates. Talk to your insurance agent to see if it would apply for you. Please call Silver Sage at 830-796-4969 to sign up.
Silver Sage is the sole provider of Meals on Wheels in Bandera County. Approximately 150 meals are delivered each day.
Deliveries include Lakehills, Pipe Creek, Medina, Utopia, Hwy. 173 South, Hwy. 173 North, between Bandera and Pipe Creek, in the city of Bandera and other surrounding areas.
Some of these routes deliver to a large number of clients and they take a long time. One such route is being divided so there will be a new route that will need drivers. This route will include the Polly Peak/Bandera River Ranch areas.
Drivers will deliver once a week. It is also recommended that a driver have a “jumper” or someone who takes the meals to the clients while the driver prepares for the next delivery.
Friends, married couples, members of churches are encouraged to volunteer together. If you are interested in helping the seniors in Bandera County who are in need of a nutritious, delicious meal each weekday, please either call John Cressey-Neely at 830-796-4969 or stop by the Silver Sage office at 803 Buck Creek Dr. near the Bandera High School.
Your contribution to this amazing program will not only help someone in need but also the rewards for yourself are immense!
