Bandera garners four podiums in Llano

The Bandera cross-country teams had a good showing at the Llano Yellow Jacket Early Season CC Invitational running on the same course the district meet will be held on later in the season. Bandera either won or finished second in all four divisions with the JV girls just missing a perfect score by one place.
In the varsity girls 3200m race, Lady Bulldogs, Morgan Cole, Raelynn Butler and Hannah Edwards all had top 10 finishes, but the team ended up in second behind a strong St. Michael's Catholic team by three points.
"Cole made a surge at the end to try and catch the winner, but came up short. Many of the girls saw either a PR (personal record) or a seasons best," coach Brooke Ashcraft said.
The JV Lady Bulldogs perfect score was disrupted by Jaycee Conner from Harper, but that meant Bandera had five runners in the first six spots to win the division handily over Conner and her teammates. Mallorie Powell and Ofelia Macias went 1-2 to lead the way for Bandera.
In varsity boys action, Bandera finished second to Harper in a tight race with Burnet finishing in third. Harper had three runners in the top ten followed by Bandera with two and Burnet's two. Burnet's Hudson Bennet won the 5K race, covering the field by over a minute.
The JV Bulldogs were in a fight with the host team, but ended up on top, edging out Llano by a slim six point margin, 39-45. Bandera had five runners in the top fifteen to Llano's four, to get the win.
Joshua Short and Braden Cox finished second and sixth respectively to lead Bandera.
All four teams, along with the Bandera Middle School teams, will run in Bandera City Park this coming Saturday morning. This is the only cross-country meet of the season in Bandera, so dont miss a chance to see the Bulldogs in action.
