LAKEHILLS LIBRARY
Every Wednesday morning at 10:30 the library hosts free story time for kiddos 2-5 years of age. It includes songs, games and crafts based in preschool curriculum.
The Genealogy group will meet Thursday, Oct. 10, 10 a.m., with free access to ancestry.com.
Also, on Oct. 10, Noon-2 p.m., Tri-County Health, Visiting Angels, and Alamo Hospice will answer all your caregiving questions with a lunch-and-learn.
The Lakehills Writers Group will meet Thursday, Oct. 17, 1-3 p.m.
All library programs are free and open to the public.

AMERICAN LEGION
The American Legion Post 410 is holding an October Fest, complete with a Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, Oct. 12, beginning at 8:30 a.m. There are prizes and trophies for the first three places. There are also contests for Beans, Bloody Marys and Salsa, with prizes for the best of each. For more information, call 304-881-4485.
American Legion Post 410, 147 Legion Dr. in Lakehills, it is open to the public Fridays through Wednesdays, from 3 p.m. They serve meals on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays and provide entertainment for all ages. For information, call 830-751-3711.

The P. C. Fire Department is holding a brisket and/or sausage barbecue Sunday, Oct. 13, at the fire house, 1331 FM 1283, beginning at 11 a.m. Plates are $10 each and there will be a bake sale. Many of the raffle prizes are for hunters. This year will include vendor booths for your shopping pleasure and it is not too late to sign up to sell. Go to pipecreekvolfire.org or call 210-540-8851.

HEB Pharmacy and Methodist Healthcare Ministries are providing free flu shots for seniors in the Lakehills area with Medicare Part B on Wednesday, Oct. 16, Noon-1 p.m. Located at 11225 PR 37, the event is sponsored by MLBA.
PIPE CREEK PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
The P. C. Presbyterians will hold a Market Day on Saturday, Oct. 19, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., on the church grounds at 8589 Hwy. 16 S, Pipe Creek. In addition to the many vendors, bake sale, silent auction, and quilt raffle, they will have a Chili Cook-Off, with prizes for first, second and third places, and are actively seeking participants. To compete, call Chris at 210-391-1629.
The church has opened their Little Rock Cafe again, every Wednesday on school days, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Complete meals are $7 for adults and $3 for children.

On Tuesday, Oct. 8, our Medina Lake level was 1058.65 feet. That is down 5.55 feet, which is 87.3 per cent capacity.
The Medina River had a flow of 11.2 cfs in Bandera, running 3.48 feet deep at the gage.
