Shopping, flu shots and fun for all

LAKEHILLS LIBRARY
Every Wednesday morning at 10:30 the library hosts free story time for kiddos 2-5 years of age. It includes songs, games and crafts based in preschool curriculum.
The Lakehills Library Writers Group will meet Thursday, Oct. 17, 1-3 p.m. It is for writers of all genres to help hone their craft.
Early voting begins Oct. 21, Monday-Friday, for two weeks.
All library programs are free and open to the public.
The library is located at 7200 FM 1283.

LAKEHILLS CIVIC CENTER
HEB Pharmacy and Methodist Healthcare Ministries are providing free flu shots for seniors in the Lakehills area with Medicare Part B on Wednesday, Oct. 16, noon to 1 p.m. Bring ID and insurance card. Snacks will be provided for participants. Located at 11225 PR 37, the event is sponsored by MLBA.

ALAMO RC&D SENIOR SOCIAL
The Alamo RC&D Senior Assistance Program will host the next Senior Social on Friday, Oct. 18, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., in Faith Tabernacle, 7789 FM 1283. This “Harvest Celebration” includes a free meal for seniors and by donation to others, games, door prizes and a celebration of October birthdays and anniversaries. RSVP requested by Oct. 16 by calling 210-548-9248.

PIPE CREEK PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
The P. C. Presbyterians will hold a Market Day on Saturday, Oct. 19, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., on the church grounds at 8589 Hwy. 16 S, Pipe Creek. In addition to the many vendors, bake sale, silent auction, and quilt raffle, they will have a Chili Cook-Off, with prizes for first, second and third places, and are actively seeking participants. The church has opened their Little Rock Cafe again, every Wednesday on school days, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Complete meals are $7 for adults and $3 for children.

MICO VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT
The Mico VFD will hold a Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the fire station in Mico, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be hay rides, a pumpkin patch, fun for the kiddos, and food trucks. There will be vendors for shopping and it is not too late to sign up to sell by calling 210-716-4149 or emailing [email protected]. Their website is micovfd.org.

AMERICAN LEGION
American Legion Post 410, 147 Legion Dr. in Lakehills, it is open to the public Fridays through Wednesdays, from 3 p.m. They serve meals on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays and provide entertainment for all ages. For information, call 830-751-3711.

LAKE AND RIVER
On Monday, Oct. 14, our Medina Lake level was 1058.22 feet. That is down 5.98 feet, which is 86.3 per cent capacity.
The Medina River had a flow of 12.9 cfs in Bandera, running 3.52 feet deep at the gage.
