Toys, art, bling and Christmas trees galore

LAKEHILLS AREA LIBRARY
Local professional photographer Jerry Jilek is exhibiting many of his works during November. They are available for purchase and part of the price will benefit the library.
Vernon Bryant, retired Lakehills resident, is also exhibiting his wares in the display case by the front door of the library. He makes and sells wooden toys of all varieties. HIs business is VLB Toys in Lakehills and he can be reached at 210-563-3499.
The Writers Group will meet on Thursday, Nov. 21, 1-3 p.m. The group welcomes writers of all genres to work to improve their craft in a friendly atmosphere.
The Women’s Self Defense Class is Saturday, Nov. 23, noon to 2 p.m. For females 16 years of age and older.
Free math tutoring every Thursday, from 1 to 6 p.m., by a retired high school math teacher. Students must sign up at front desk for free tutoring.
Every Tuesday morning at 10:30 a Yoga class for all ages is available. Everyone should bring a mat and water.
Every Wednesday morning at 10:30 the library hosts story time for kiddos 2-5 years of age. It includes songs, games and crafts based in preschool curriculum.
All library programs are free and open to the public.
The library is located at 7200 FM 1283.
ALAMO RC&D
The next Sassy Granny Art Classes are Wednesday, Nov. 20 and 27, from 1-3 p.m., in the Faith Tabernacle Pantry Barn.
The Granny Art items will be available for purchase in the Silver Sage Art Show on Saturday, Nov. 30, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Center, at 803 Buck Creek Drive in Bandera.
The next Senior Mini Food Pantry is Friday, Nov. 22, noon to 3 p.m., in the Pantry Barn. This is the last one before Thanksgiving.
The Alamo Resource Conservation & Development holds a free senior Fun & Fitness Class every Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to Noon, in the Faith Tabernacle Pantry Barn. All are welcome to join low impact exercises. No equipment is needed.
All Alamo RC&D events take place in Faith Tabernacle, located at 7789 FM 1283.
PIPE CREEK CHRISTMAS TREE FARM
The Pipe Creek Christmas Tree Farm will open Monday, Nov. 25 for you to choose and cut your own Christmas tree. They will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., located at Hwy. 16 and Phil’s Rd., in Pipe Creek. Call 210-426-6191 or email [email protected] for more information.
AMERICAN LEGION
American Legion Post 410, 147 Legion Dr. in Lakehills, it is open to the public Fridays through Wednesdays, from 3 p.m. They serve meals on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays and provide entertainment for all ages. For information, call 830-751-3711.
LAKE AND RIVER
On Monday, Nov. 18, our Medina Lake level was 1056.43 feet. That is down 7.77 feet, which is 82.5 percent capacity.
The Medina River had a flow of 29.3 cfs in Bandera, running 3.83 feet deep at the gage.

Thirty-five vendors stationed themselves around the Lakehills Area Library for the very successful Annual Holiday Market Day on Nov. 16. They offered new and unique handmade items in anticipation of the holiday season. The crowd was standing room only and parking overflowed into the highway easement.
