A snowy blast from the past

The Lakehills Civic Center hosted the annual Children’s Christmas Party this year on Saturday, Dec. 7, by decorating a Christmas Snow Village from the Past, complete with artisans in costume.
By going all the way around the room, a person could learn to make ornaments, to spin wool and weave, hear old Christmas songs and carols, make chocolate candies, get photographed with Santa, slide on Toboggan Hill, make candles, and learn about pottery and leather — all things one would find in a village of the late 1800s.
The three-hour party was packed with families. The kiddos enjoyed the lessons and there were plenty of treats to spoil suppers.
