Happy Hanukkah!

The first candle of Hanukkah is lit at dark on Dec. 22 and continues for seven more nights. We light the lights to chase away the darkness. Hanukkah is about faith and hope.
We wish a joyful Hanukkah to all our Jewish friends.     

AMERICAN LEGION
American Legion Post 410, 147 Legion Dr. in Lakehills, invites the public to Christmas dinner on Saturday, Dec. 21, at noon. The meal will consist of turkey with trimmings and Santa will appear at 1 p.m. It is free to all, the Legion’s way of thanking the community for their support. For information, call 830-751-3711.

CIVIC CENTER
The Lakehills Civic Center, 11225 PR 37, is hosting a Roaring Twenties New Year’s Eve Party. Wear a 1920s outfit or country causal attire. The party is Tuesday, Dec. 31, 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Snacks and set-ups will be available; BYOB. There will be music and dancing. At midnight, black eye peas, cornbread, and champagne will be served. Tickets are $15 per person or $25 for a couple and can be purchased at Cutaway Salon during business hours or at the Center, Monday through Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is a 21+ event.

COCONUT COVE
The Coconut Cove Bar & Grill, 11409 PR 37, is under new ownership and new management. The menu is primarily sandwiches, burgers and appetizers. The owners, Sam and Lori Montelongo and Teri Silver, say they will offer different weekend specials each week. Open Wednesday through Friday for supper and Saturday and Sunday for lunch and supper, they can be found on Facebook for hours and special offers. For take-out, call 830-751-4001.

LAMCOS
The Lake Medina Conservation Society, LAMCOS, has received a matching grant of $5,000. Grantors Nancy and Casey Fox will match donations made before December 31, up to $5,000 to raise funds to permanently save Medina Lake.

LAKEHILLS AREA LIBRARY
Rhonda Bayless, professional artist, is exhibiting her oil paintings during December. Her works are available for purchase.
The library will be closed Dec. 24-26 for Christmas.
The library is located at 7200 FM 1283.

ALAMO RC&D
The Senior Food Pantry is Friday, Dec. 20, noon to 3 p.m.
The Fun & Fitness class is every Wednesday, 11 a.m. to noon.
The Sassy Granny Art Class is Wednesday, Dec. 18, 1 to 3 p.m.
All Alamo RC&D events take place in Faith Tabernacle, 7768 FM 1283.

PIPE CREEK CHRISTMAS TREE FARM
The Christmas Tree Farm is open to choose and cut your Christmas tree. Open daily,  11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., they are located at Hwy. 16 and Phil’s Rd., in Pipe Creek. Call 210-426-6191 or email jimhingst@earthlink.net for more information.

LAKE AND RIVER
On Monday, Dec. 16, our Medina Lake level was 1055.10 feet. That is down 9.10 feet, which is 79.6 per cent capacity.
The Medina River had a flow of 20.3 cfs in Bandera, running 3.85 feet deep at the gage.
