Winter fishing at Bandera City Park

Bandera City Park was the hot spot yesterday afternoon for diehard fishermen and kids hoping for a bite from one of the 578 rainbow trout that were dropped into the frigid river during the early morning hours.
Organized by The City of Bandera, Atmos Energy and Bandera Electric Cooperative, Fish For Fun is an annual event that draws people of all ages to the park. Seventy-five kids' fishing poles were on hand to give away to the youngest fisher-boys and girls who also enjoyed free hotdogs, chips and drinks, courtesy of Atmos Energy.
The fish were a little bit shy Tuesday, while trying to acclimate to a new environment, but local fishing experts opined that Saturday may be a good day to bait those hooks and drop them back in the water.
