Rebekah Douglas announces for Bandera County Tax Assessor-Collector
Hello, my name is Rebekah "Reba" Douglas. I am running for Bandera County Tax Assessor-Collector. Although I am unopposed, I would greatly appreciate your vote and support.
I am currently the Chief Deputy of the Tax Office and love what I do when it comes to serving the community or helping people. I’ve lived in Texas for 7-and-one-half years, of which 6-and-one-half years have been in Bandera County.
I grew up in a little town in Ohio much like Bandera. I graduated from high school with honors in 2007. During that time I also graduated with honors from a two-year Law Enforcement vocational program. After graduation I was a groom/caretaker for Standardbred Racehorses. I learned a lot about hard work and dedication. These traits I carry with me today and continue to live by.
In 2012 I came to Texas working cutting horses but soon realized I needed to start thinking about my future. I decided at this point I loved Texas and was going to make it my home. I began working as a 911 dispatcher for the City of Kerrville where I worked for four years. Although it provided stability, I left because shift work is rough with a job that is always short-handed.
This brings me to my present position with the Bandera County Tax Office. I started in January 2018 and have loved my job since day one. I am currently attending classes to become certified and further strengthen my knowledge/training prior to taking office next year. These certifications include PCC(Professional County Collector) and CTOP(County Tax Office Professional). I love to learn and keep up with any State/Federal changes so I have an informed staff, which makes an informed community. My goal is to keep things running very smoothly at the Tax Office and ensure we are helpful and treat customers with the utmost respect.
I am always open to listen to suggestions from the public as to what they like or don't like about the office, except not paying taxes because we all know it is a necessary evil.
I hope this gives you some background about myself and hope you will support me as your next Tax Assessor-Collector. I cannot wait to continue serving Bandera County with integrity and the utmost respect for all.
