St. Stanislaus Catholic Church will celebrate its Faith Heritage with a traditional Polish meal this Sunday, Feb. 9. The second oldest Polish church in the United States, St. Stanislaus continues to honor its Polish heritage.
The parish was built in 1876 by immigrant Polish families who settled Bandera when they arrived in 1855, six weeks after the settling of the first Polish parish in Panna Maria. Constructed of native limestone, the parish came a long way from the 20-foot by 30-foot log structure first built in 1859.
Sunday’s meal will be prepared by the St. Stanislaus Altar Society, and served at St. Joseph’s Hall, 315 7th St, Bandera.
Dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost of each plate is $9, which includes a drink. Dessert is available by an additional donation. The meal will include a polish sausage link on a bed of cabbage, cabbage rolls, pierogi, green beans, sauerkraut and bread.
Everyone from the community or those just visiting are welcome to attend and honor the immigrant pioneer spirit of St. Stanislaus that continues to keep the faith strong.
