Bandera High School mascot selected as national competition finalist
Makayla Childers has been selected from thousands of applicants across the nation as one of the top eight finalists for Varsity Spirit Mascot competition. Makayla is eligible to attend the awards ceremony in May. The winner will receive a $3,000 award.
According to BHS Cheer sponsor Kim Mooney, "Makayla is the most special, spirited and positive leader and mascot, and warms the hearts of all who know her. She is dedicated to her peers and teams and school and always encourages and uplifts them, never complaining or quitting!" Makayla is a national award winning competitive cheerleader for her Kinectickids team. She is applying to Texas A&M University for a possible admission to a program called Aggie ACHIEVE.
