Boys Powerlifting
Bulldog Powerlifting is sending four lifters to regionals following the final Texas Strength Systems Invitational in San Antonio.
In the 275 pound class, Colton Perkins set personal records (PR) in all three lifts and total weight. Perkins, ranked tenth in the region, had a 550 pound squat, a 335 bench press and a 500 pound deadlift for a 1385 pound total.
Brian Burns ranked sixth in the region at 148 pounds, had a 1090 pound total with lifts of 430 in the squat, a 230 pound bench press and a 430 deadlift.
Zakary Widenor set his PRs with a 1240 total at 181 pounds. Widenor had a squat of 480, benched 250, and dead lifted 510. Widenor ended up at number nine in region for the class.
Ethan Brown, the regional leader at 123, had a good day at 132 pounds with a 975 pound total, thanks to a 380 squat, a 215 bench and a 380 pound deadlift.
He finishes in the top ten for the class in region.
Matthew Stanton had a deadlift of 380, benched 270, and dead lifted 395 to finish the season on an up note at 165 pounds.
Brown, Burns, Perkins and Widenor Ethan, Brian, Colton, and Zak will head south to Bishop High School on Friday, March 13 and then to Abilene on March 28 if they make state.
"The entire squad has worked hard all season and made tremendous gains," coach Manny Martinez said.

The varsity Lady Bulldogs lost a 1-0 decision to Fredericksburg last night at Bulldog Stadium.
The game was scoreless until the Lady Billies scored on a scramble after a problematic corner kick with less than five minutes left in the contest.
Bandera will travel to Boerne Friday to take on the Lady Greyhounds.

Varsity soccer lost to Fredericksburg on the road by a 4-1 tally.
Bandera will host Boerne this Friday, JV at 5 p.m. with the varsity to follow.
