BEC welcomes Mico man to Board of Directors

The Bandera Electric Cooperative Board of Directors recently appointed Christopher Blakemore to its board as the interim District 7 Director. The District 7 Director represents Lakehills, Medina Lake and Mico areas.
“We are excited to welcome Mr. Blakemore to Bandera Electric Cooperative’s board. He brings decades of leadership in key areas such as finance and information technology,” said Board Chairman Michael Edwards.
Early in his career, Blakemore worked in finance in the healthcare industry before transitioning to management of Information Technology for multi-hospital organizations. He held the position of Associate Chief Information Officer at CHRISTUS Health for 12 years, and retired from the position of Chief Information Officer for Good Shepherd Health System in Longview, Texas in 2017.
“I developed a love for being a part of an organization with a mission in my career working for not-for-profit health systems that serve their patients. The cooperative clearly has a similar mission to serve its members and I look forward to becoming a part of it,” Blakemore said.
Blakemore and his wife Sheila have been BEC members since 2000. Originally from Missouri, they moved to Texas in 1985 and lived in Dallas, Austin and San Antonio before moving permanently to Mico in 2005. He holds a Bachelor of Business from Central Missouri University and a Master of Accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington.
