Book some time at the Bandera Library
By Mauri Guillén Fagan
Bandera Library Director
Despite being closed to the public, the Bandera Library is still offering many services for our community. We are continuing our curbside service for books, DVDs, magazines and puzzles. We have also created Boredom Bustin’ bags for kids, teens and adults. Each bag is a combination of movies and books on topics that interest each age group. We have them for military history, gardening, crafting and cooking for adults interested in non-fiction. There are also bundles for mysteries, horror, science fiction and fantasy for those who want a little break from the real world. Teens can check out a bundle with a group of must-read fantasy books. Kids can check out books and DVDs on trucks, horses, princesses, magic and other topics.
The library would like to thank an anonymous donor for a generous donation of 54 children’s animated movies based both historical people and figures from the Bible. The series is from Nest Learning and will be located in the Children’s Library. Call the library if you are interested in borrowing a few titles!
We are happy to announce the warehouses that ship our orders of Large Print books, which had been closed since mid-March, has been reopened. The library will begin receiving our regular shipments of large print fiction and westerns. Keep an eye on the library’s Facebook page, and the blog on our website www.banderacountylibrary.org for new titles.
This week, John Grisham’s latest title, Camino Winds, comes out. It is the second of the Camino Island series involving bookseller, and sometimes black-market dealer, Bruce Cable. A hurricane devastates Camino Island and one of its victims is Bruce’s friend, Nelson Kerr. However, the mysterious blows to Kerr’s head suggest the hurricane was not the cause of his death. The first responders are overwhelming dealing with the aftermath of the storm and Bruce must investigate his friend’s death himself. As an author of thrillers, Kerr may have left the clues to his murder in the manuscript of his latest novel.
