LAKEHILLS CIVIC CENTER, 11225 PR 37, will host the annual Back To School Bash, sponsored by Hill Country Samaritans, on Sunday, August 2, from 5-7 p.m.
A grant from BEC Foundation provided 650 backpacks. Donations are providing the supplies.
The Samaritans are working with Bandera ISD to operate according to Covid-19 guidelines, providing safety by having a drive-through.

WESTERN HERITAGE COWBOY CHURCH, 7146 FM 1283, will hold the 13th Annual School Supply Give-Away on Monday, August 3, beginning at 6 p.m. It is first come, first served and there is a limited supply. It is a drive-through event and the church asks that participants please pick up for their families only. For more information, call 830-535-6575.
ALAMO RC&D will distribute fans and food on Thursday, August 6, at Faith Tabernacle, 7789 FM 1283. The fans and the food are for senior citizens who need them and are pre-registered at alamorcd.org.
It is by appointment only and seniors over 55 must pre-register online at alamorcd.org or by calling or texting 210-548-9248. Reservations are required to provide curbside service, according to Covid-19 protocols.
The organization asks for donations to purchase the new 20-inch box fans to be distributed. You can donate the money to purchase the fans on the website: alamorcd.org.
The organization needs volunteers to help with the picking up, the sorting, and the distributing of food and fans. To volunteer, or to sign up, email or text: [email protected] or 210-548-9248.
FAMILY HOME GARDEN PROJECT is hosted by Lakehills Civic Center board member Henry Wolanski, to help people raise their own food. He does a live, two-way, chat every Saturday at 10 a.m. and welcomes gardeners and would-be gardeners to check in at the website: familyhomegarden.weebly.com.
While on the website, sign up for the newsletter to receive special offers, including free seeds, and access the blog to learn more.
There is a link on the home page of the website that will take you to live, real-time weather specifically for Lakehills.

On June 22, Medina Lake is at 60.3 per cent capacity. The lake level is 1045.06 feet, which is down 19.14 feet.
The Medina River has a flow of 1.28 cfs in Bandera, running 3.12 feet deep at the gage.
