Last day to register to vote in General Election is Monday

By the League of Women Voters
Special to the Prophet

The Texas Election Code determines the last day to register to vote in an election in Texas. In order to be eligible to cast a ballot in the 2020 General Election scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 3, a citizen must be registered on or before Monday, Oct. 5. The League of Women Voters of the Hill Country Texas urges all citizens to take time to register to vote, to update personal details on voter registration information if needed (name and/or address) or to simply check the status of personal voter registration information.
A resident of Bandera County who is a citizen of the United States can register at any time in person at the Bandera County Election Department. Go to the Bandera County Tax Office at 403 12th Street in Bandera and complete the paperwork. Or a citizen can go online, print out a voter registration form and mail it to the Bandera County Election Department at P.O. Box 1882, Bandera, TX 78003. Find the link to the form by using the Bandera County Election Department website and scroll down to Voter Registration: https://www.banderacounty.org/departments/ElectionAdministrator.htm.
If a voter who lives in Bandera County needs to change personal details on voter registration information, such as name or address, go to the Bandera County Tax Office or use the Bandera County Election Department website listed above. Just remember that if you print out the form, you must take it or mail it to the local county election department. Do NOT mail the form to the Texas Secretary of State.
If a voter simply wants to verify the details of their voter registration, use the website provided by the State of Texas: www.VoteTexas.gov.
League of Women Voters of the Hill Country Texas has forty years of work focused on registering citizens to vote, educating citizens on candidates and issues, and encouraging citizens to vote. The League is a nonpartisan and nonprofit organization and does not endorse or oppose candidates for elected office.
