Bulldog freshmen tie Carrizo Springs JV

The Bandera Bulldogs freshman hosted the Carrizo Springs Wildcats JV Thursday last night at Bulldog Stadium in a game turned into a defensive struggle.
Carrizo Springs opened the game with an onside kick but the Bulldogs recovered on the Wildcat 48.
The failed onsides kick allowed Bandera to score on a Jacob Lannon 21 yard run rush less than three minutes into the game. A failed two point conversion kept it 6-0.
The Wildcats answered with a 33 yard rush off the right side three minutes into the second quarter and a PAT attempt that went wide left kept the score knotted at 6-6.
Carrizo was threatening to score late in the second but a Lannon interception in the endzone stopped that drive as the half was running out.
The second half was a defensive showcase as both teams held each others offense from adding any points on the board, but the visitors did have a chance late in the game.
Carrizo did intercept a Bulldog pass with 2:35 left and got down to the six yard line where the Bulldog defense held, keeping the Wildcats from scoring on four straight plays to take the ball over on downs.
A final Hail Mary pass by the Bulldogs fell incomplete and the game ended up tied.
Bandera now sports an 0-0-2 record in district, not bad for a team of freshmen playing against JV teams that have juniors, sophomores and freshmen on their rosters.
Next up is the Devine Warhorses on the road next Thursday.
