Lakehills Library Leanings

The annual Halloween Trick-or-Treat is on! The library will hand out candy in a safe and socially distant manner on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 5 - 7:30 p.m. The volunteers should arrive by 4:30 p.m. and park in the grass past the small book buildings. Staff and volunteers will wear masks and maintain social distancing for the safety of the kiddos and their families.
The youngsters will show off their creative costumes as they move around the walking track and pick up their candy at many different stations.
The Preschool Storytime Program is quite successful. Director Dianna Landes reads to the youngsters virtually through YouTube and craft kits may be picked up by parents at the library each week. The crafts are designed to meet preschool learning requirements with an emphasis on letters, numbers, reading and writing. Parents can still register at lakehillslibrary@gmail.com or call the library at 830-751-2777.
The library has hired a new part-time staffer. She is a charming young lady by the name of Isabela De La Cruz. Her training is progressing rapidly and she will greet one and all with a cheerful smile.
All services are available including books, movies, audio, printing, faxing, notary and scanning. Also, hundreds of paperback and hardcover books, and DVDs, are available for purchase.
Landes reminds patrons who are uncomfortable coming inside that all services are available at the door. The free WiFi is always available in the parking lot.
The library’s hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and until 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Masks are required, as is social distancing. It is located at 7200 FM 1283 and the phone number is 830-510-2777. The email address is lakehillslibrary@gmail.com. Their website is lakehillslibrary.org.
