Though scaled back, this year’s Nightmare on Maple was well-attended by those seeking some holiday fun and normalcy. Children in disguise and families in coordinated costumes flooded Bandera City Park Saturday night.
Under a blue moon, folks from as far away as Houston embraced the Halloween spirit organized by the Bandera Marshal’s Office. Almost 400 people were signed up for 19 door prizes and an estimated 2,000 kids collected candy from the car trunks and decorated booths of volunteers. The event started at 6 p.m. and the park was cleared out by 10 p.m., Dietrich said.
No food - other than candy - was served in part because of Coronavirus concerns, and also to encourage people to grab a bite in town, Dietrich said, who also thanked Reed Scruby of Water Boys, BEC and the Kickback Corner for their large monetary donations.
