Dave Thompson

Dave was a U.S Veteran and proudly served in the Army for 30 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He served during World War II, Korean and Vietnam Wars. After retiring from the Army, Dave settled in Pipe Creek where he enjoyed the Hill Country. Dave and his wife were active in Castle Lake Volunteer Fire Department.
Dave is survived by son David Thompson (Doyce); daughter Mary Ann Weinmann (Heinz); sons John Sorrell (Vicki) and Scott Sorrell (Ann); grandchildren Sandra Luderer, Petra Schumacher, David Thompson (Morgan), Lacey Sorrell, Tiffany Sorrell (Stefanie), Amanda Zaiontz (Mark) and Brittany Marikos (Andrew); great grandchildren Luca and McKenzie; sister LaTrell Haveman; brother Archie Thompson; and many nieces and nephews.
A viewing and service with Military Honors was held Nov. 24, at Grimes Funeral Chapels, officiated by Rev. Frankie Enloe.
Internment will take place at 9:15 a.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 25, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, Texas 78209.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a memorial contributions be made to Castle Lake Ranch Volunteer Fire Department, 3801 Bear Creek Rd, Pipe Creek, TX 78063, (830) 535-6611, in David’s name.
