New UIL alignment favors Bandera football

The University Interscholastic League (UIL) released the new two-year alignments for fall high school sports.
The new alignment will certainly benefit Bandera football as travel time and mileage will be cut down from the past two seasons. No longer will the Bulldogs have long road trips to Cuero, Austin Eastside, Wimberley, Geronimo-Navarro or Llano. Those five road trips totaled almost 1050 miles that the Bulldogs and their fans had to travel over the last two years.
With the new alignment, travel mileage will be cut by almost 275 miles, to approximately 785 miles for the home and away games until the 2022-2024 alignments.
The UIL finally saw fit to move Bandera into District 15-4A-D2, where they will now take on Carrizo Springs, Crystal City, Devine, Hondo and Pearsall, where the Bulldogs should be able to build on being competitive and start a playoff string.
Bulldog basketball will only see one change in District 28-4A as Llano drops to 3A-D1. The Yellowjackets will be replaced on the district schedule by Comal Davenport, a new high school on FM 3009 in Brakken, set to open in August of this year.
Unfortunately, the new alignment doesn't benefit Lady Bulldog volleyball as the Lady Bulldogs will still have to face Wimberley, Canyon Lake, Boerne and Fredericksburg as they try to make the playoffs.
