A Bandera man was killed last night during an altercation just outside the Bandera city limits on Houston Street. According to Chief Deputy Matt King, the victim was shot in the back of the head.
King said the dispute occurred during a child exchange, when suspect Austin Small was returning his 4-year-old daughter to her mother and the victim after a weekend visit. King said neither the mother nor the child were injured, however they were witness to the incident.
King said the gun was fired more than once, however it has not been recovered. The victim was taken by ambulance to Phil’s Road, and from there he was airlifted to San Antonio. He died in the hospital.
Small was arrested early this morning in Kerrville, and is being held in the Bandera County jail on a murder charge.
