Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced today the end of the statewide mask mandate, as well as business capacity limits.
“It’s time to reopen Texas 100 percent,” Abbott said in today’s news conference in Lubbock. “Every business that wants to be open should be open.”
Abbott said the new executive order will take effect on Wednesday, March 10.
Private businesses will still be allowed to require masks for entry, and local governments have the authority to implement restrictions if active Covid case counts rise in their communities.
