FOOD DISTRIBUTION will take place Monday, April 12, from 9 - 11 a.m., at the Lakehills Civic Center, 11225 PR 37. It is sponsored by Silver Sage and the San Antonio Food Bank.
FEMA has funds to assist families with funeral expenses related to Covid deaths. For more information, and to apply, contact FEMA at 844-684-6333, starting April 12, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Central Time.
PIPE CREEK DANCEHALL will host their first ever Market Days on Saturday, April 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will be an open-air event with live music by David Lee. Located at the Pipe Creek General Store and Dance Hall, 9878 Hwy. 16 South, in Pipe Creek, attendees can tour the restored facilities, enjoy barbecue, burgers and nachos from the vendors, as well as visiting arts and crafts booths. COCONUT COVE is hosting the monthly Car Show Saturday, April 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. Located at 11409 PR 37, there are no fees, but there are door prizes, and the beer is cold. For more information, call 830-612-1038.
ALAMO RC&D, Senior Assistance Program, continues the Curbside Pantry every month at Faith Tabernacle, 7789 FM 1283. The next Curbside Pantry will be held on Thursday, April 22, beginning at 2:30 p.m.
Each senior household must pre-register at alamorcd.org. If you have trouble, text 210-548-9248 for assistance.
Registered senior citizens are invited to participate in the free Senior Zoom Social Club. Download the free Zoom app and each will be sent a link. Each monthly Zoom meeting includes fun, friendship, information with guest speakers, social discussions, online games, birthday celebrations and prizes. The next Zoom Social Club meeting is Thursday, May 13, at 2 p.m.
The free Zoom Fun-n-Fitness Class for registered seniors combines chair exercises, resistance and motion to music. Classes are every Monday at 1 p.m.
The new free Zoom Craft Chat for registered seniors will be Thursday, April 15, at 2 p.m.
PIPE CREEK CHRISTIAN SCHOOL will hold their annual Fundraiser Drive-thru Dinner on Friday, April 23, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the school, 1990 FM 1283. For $10 a plate, the meal will include beef lasagna, salad, garlic bread, drink and dessert. Tickets are available now at the New Life Resale Shop next door to the school and all proceeds will benefit the school.
MICO VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT will hold their 57th Annual BBQ Fundraiser on Saturday, May 8, at the station, 7121 CR 271, in Mico. The event includes a live auction with a water truck, a silent auction, a bounce house and obstacle course for the kiddos. Raffle tickets are on sale now at the fire station on Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to noon. Tickets will also be available in Laurel Canyon Ranch, 8 a.m. to noon; and in Bear Springs Ranch, at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 10. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5, and you do not have to be present to win. Call 830-751-2658 for more information.
LAKEHILLS LAST SATURDAY MARKET will take place on Saturday, April 24, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Lakehills Civic Center, 11225 PR 37. The music is offered by This Time Round. Barbecue returns as will many vendors. If interested in selling, call Jeremy Salois at 254-979-1073.
LAKEHILLS UNITED METHODIST CHURCH offers Bread of Life, their free community meal, every Monday, following the school schedule, beginning at 5 p.m. Located at 150 Ave. J in Lakehills, the menu varies, serving 180 to 200 meals every week. AMERICAN LEGION POST 410, 147 Legion Dr. in Lakehills, is open to the public, from 3 p.m., Fridays through Wednesdays. They serve meals every Tuesday evening at 5:30 p.m. Each week offers a different dish, with sides and beverage for $8 a plate. On April 9, Medina Lake is at 35.8 per cent capacity. The lake level is 1027.49 feet, which is down 36.71 feet.
The lake valves have been open since March 23. Without rain, our lake is being sucked dry at an alarming rate. Go to Save Medina Lake on Facebook, or the website SaveMedinaLake.com to be kept informed.
The Medina River has a flow of 9.42 cfs in Bandera, standing 3.32 feet deep at the gage.
