Blood Drive Alive on May 15
As the number of COVID-19 vaccinations rise and business reopening expands, there is also an increase in the number of automobile accidents as we return to the roads to celebrate. The return to “normal” blood donation has yet to occur, but in Bandera County, we are making a difference with monthly blood drives across the entire county.
There is still time to sign up to donate for the Saturday, May 15, 2021, blood drive at Silver Sage Community Center. You can schedule a time convenient to you by going to: https://biobridgeglobal.org/donors/blood-donation/. A quick phone call to 210-731-5555 is another way to sign up to save lives.
All donors complete a quick questionnaire on line (or on site) and have their iron levels checked upon arrival. All donors earn points for each donation and can choose from hundreds of gift cards from Amazon to local stores and restaurants. The website also provides information on who is eligible to donate. If you were told in the past that you were unable to donate, check out the site today as the technology and rules change often.
Memorial Day is right around the corner; it’s that second deadliest holiday for auto accidents. The need for blood donations will spike along with those accident numbers. Let’s not spoil the family celebrations, honors to our fallen military and special events. Donate to ensure the blood supply is there for you and your loved ones.
For more information or assistance in scheduling, call 210-788-9160. Call that same number on May 15 to see if walk-ins are available. Thank you to all those great Bandera citizens who donate: local heroes all.
