Local rodeo opens with a bang

The Bandera Prophet

The season opening event for Bandera's Riding on Faith Summer Series Rodeo took place Friday evening after a one-week delay due to weather and unsafe conditions the prior week.
A fair size crowd showed up at Mansfield Park Arena and despite a few opening night issues, were entertained by some good performances for early in the season.
The closest event of the evening saw KD Cortez edge out Laura Moos by .021 in Open Barrels.
Dont forget, there is Mutton Bustin' and a Calf Scramble for the young'uns in addition to the Bull Riding, Barrels and Roping events.
The weekly rodeos happen on Fridays, through Aug. 13, with Exhibition and Pre-Show Barrels at 7 p.m. and the rodeo starting at 8 p.m.
