In a reconvened session after an executive meeting last Thursday, Bandera County commissioners unanimously approved Shannon Griffin as the new EMS director, effective Nov. 1. Griffin will replace Calvin Plummer, who announced his resignation earlier this year.
“I will graduate Aug. 19 with my Masters in Nursing, with a focus on adult geriatric acute care nurse practitioner,” Plummer said. “My main goal is to work in critical care.”
Plummer said he will step down to part-time once Griffin takes over.
“I live 700 yards away from the station,” Plummer said, who has been EMS director since July 2014. “I’ll still help out when I can.”
Griffin joined Bandera County EMS in 2003, when she started as a part-time volunteer. Now a paramedic, she also serves as part-time supervisor.
