Lakehills Area Library Leanings

By Dianna Landes
Lakehills Area Library Director

On Thursday, July 29, the library will host the Alamo Area Council of Governments Road Show. Come by the library between 9 a.m. and noon to meet with representatives of many different services in the area for seniors. There will be information about social services and other things available for the senior members of our community, so if you are a senior or you may be a caregiver for an older loved one, come by and see what services are available for you!
The library First Saturday book sales have resumed. Our next sale is Aug. 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hardbacks for only $1.50, children's books and soft covers are 50 cents. All money raised by our book sales goes to fund library programs and materials.
Live book club has resumed. Book club meets the second Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. at the library. In August, they will discuss The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson.
Yoga is coming. A free yoga class for all ages will begin on Thursday, Aug. 12, at 10:30 a.m., in the Lakehills Library Meeting Room. Please bring a mat and water. Space is limited so we ask that you sign up with the library by calling 830-510-2777 or email Dianna at [email protected].
This year's Summer Reading theme is Tails & Tales and each week we are focusing on either a fairy tale or animals. You can register for summer reading at the library and get your child's reading log. When a child completes their log, they will be able to pick a prize from our prize box. This is a great way to keep your child reading all summer long and have them prepared for school when it resumes in the fall. We have a huge selection of books for children of all ages, so come check them out.
The Lakehills Area Library is at 7200 FM 1283. Hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
