The Bandera Business Association hosted the National Day of the (American) Cowboy celebration, which recognizes the cowboy and the Western way of life.
Started in 2005 in Wyoming, the NDOC happens the fourth Saturday in July and now 15 states recognize the event.
Different towns celebrate this day in different ways and Bandera was no different except that many of those ways are commonplace here in the Cowboy Capital of the World.
Rodeos, dressing up in Western wear, riding a four-legged friend, chili and BBQ cookoffs, country music, historic displays, and roping and shooting exhibitions are just a few ways it is celebrated across the country.
The day was capped of with a Ranch Rodeo at Mansfield Park Saturday evening.
