The Bandera Prophet
Alamo Area Council of Governments, known as AACOG, held a walk-through event in the Lakehills Area Library on July 29. They highlighted their many services to inform Bandera County residents of all they offer.
The event was provided through a grant from the State of Texas, through the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality.
AACOG is a government program that serves several counties, including Bandera, Atascosa, Bexar, Comal, Frio, Gillespie, Guadalupe, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, McMullen, Medina and Wilson Counties. They noticed they receive fewer requests from Bandera County than they get from the other counties. They felt they needed to let our community know more about them and what they offer.
Represented at the library walk-through were the Area Agencies on Aging, Veterans Services, Weatherization Assistance, Aging and Disability Resource, Medicare and Medicaid Assistance, Mortgage Assistance, Caregivers Assistance, Transportation Assistance, Electronics Recycling Assistance, Water Conservation, Legal Assistance, among many others.
The Area Agency on Aging is especially concerned that many older American are living in the county and are not making use of the many services offered to our senior population. They said their services are provided without any income requirements for those who are 60 years of age or older.
They encourage people to ask questions and seek more information by calling 855-937-2372 or emailing [email protected] or by going to the website www.aacog.com. Their main office is at 8700 Tesoro Drive, Suite 160, San Antonio, Texas 78217.
