The Lakehills American Legion #410 has dedicated a table to the 12 U.S. Marines and one U.S. Navy Corpsman who were killed in the line of duty at the Kabul airport last week.
“Bandera County and the Hill Country have always been very supportive of the U.S. military and when the community, as well as our members heard this news it affects us too. We at the Legion know that our community members, veterans and citizens alike want to honor this ultimate sacrifice. This is our Legion’s way of acknowledging that sacrifice and honoring the memory of their dedication to their oath to protect us all. We invite the community we serve to visit the table and reflect silently,” Canteen Manager Kristi Stee said.
The community is invited to visit the memorial table each day after 3 p.m. (except Thursday when the Post is closed). As you enter the Post, , located at 147 Legion Drive in Lakehills, the table with 13 chairs sits silently with the photos of those who died in the terrorist attack. The Post requests that community members be respectful and leave any remembrances, notes or cards on adjacent tables.
The display will remain in place until Tuesday, Sept. 7.
