Bandera Boys & Girls Clubs celebrate 20th anniversary

Contributed

This year, the Boys & Girls Club of Bandera County celebrates its 20th anniversary. The Club was founded in 2001, and for 20 years it has served our local youth with homework assistance, sports programs, scholastic programs, mentorship and leadership programs, while also providing fun games and events, and serving as a satellite site for the San Antonio Food Bank. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Bandera County is comprised today of three locations: the Teen Center, Alkek Elementary Unit, and the Hill Country Elementary Unit.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Bandera County have donated over 2.3 million hours of service since 2001 and the community businesses have supported the worthy goals of the Club. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Bandera County exists, "To inspire all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens."
The Club accomplishes this mission by working hard on our three outcome areas - Academic Success, Good Character & Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles with youth ages 6 - 18.
The Bandera County BGC 20th Anniversary Celebration is Saturday, Sept. 18, from noon to 6 p.m., at the Boys & Girls Club Teen Center, at 715 Maple Street. There will be carnival games, a cornhole tournament, bouncy house, live multiple bands, various games, and activities as well as BBQ style food. A silent auction will also be included and so much more! This is a family-fun event.
Thanks to our community and our sponsors for a great 20 years of support and uplifting motivation for our Bandera County Youth.
