Volunteers needed to light up the town

The lights are turning on this holiday season, and anyone who can is asked to lend a helping hand. Spearheaded this year by a Community Action Group comprised solely of volunteers, plans include displays on the Bandera County courthouse lawn, and City Park.
County Commissioner Jack Moseley began organizing Christmas lights on the courthouse lawn two years ago, decorating 12 to 14 trees and the grounds. Last year, DPS State Trooper Chip Aragones scaled the courthouse, illuminating it against the winter’s night sky.
This year, Bandera City Park has been added to the list, and the decorating will take place Nov. 20. Although people are responsible for setting up, maintaining and breaking down their own displays in the park, volunteers are still needed. The lights turn on the Friday after Thanksgiving and will remain until New Year’s.
The Community Action Group will meet today, at 6 p.m., at Mansfield Park.
