Keep in Beat with the Bandera Library

By Mauri Guillén Fagan
Bandera Library Director

There are still a few December self-care kits available to pick up. This month’s kit includes a delicious cookie recipe, an adult coloring sheet, tea, chocolate and an exercise in gratitude. According to Harvard University studies, practicing gratitude is “strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness.” So, pick up a kit, have a cup of tea and learn some strategies to practice more gratitude.
To get into the holiday spirit, the library has created a wall of Christmas themed books and movies. Pick up a copy of the Grinch to watch while wrapping presents and snuggle up with a cozy holiday novel.
Wednesdays our weekly sit-and-stitch group meets at 4 p.m. Get some help on any level of knitting or just come with your project for some good conversation. Thursdays at 2 p.m., our partner Hill Country Mental Health and Development Disabilities Centers hosts their weekly support group in the downstairs meeting.
On Mondays, our weekly watercolor class meets in the Downstairs Meeting Room. The Library has limited supplies so please bring your own if you have them. At 4:30 p.m., the Bandera Library’s Official Pokemon League meets to play Pokemon The Card Game and discuss their favorite anime and manga.
The Bandera Library is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visit our website for our holiday hours. Curbside service is available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Masks are recommended while in the library building. Check out our website www.banderacountylibrary.org for all up-to-date information.
