Keep in Beat with the Bandera Library

How exactly did this year fly by so fast? Is this legal? On behalf of our staff, board and team of volunteers, Happy New Year Bandera! 2022 is a special year for the library as we celebrate our 90th birthday. We will be hosting special events all year long to celebrate. The best way to keep on top of everything going on is to register for our monthly newsletter. January is chockfull of new events including our new Girls Who Code program. Girls aged 6 and up can join a weekly meetup and learn computer coding. This is a fun and engaging way for young girls to get a headstart on the field of computers and technology. On Jan. 19, from 2 - 6 p.m., the library will host the Melo Project Runway. Former fashion designer Tina Melo teaches a Montessori style workshop for kids on how to make their own clothing. The goal of the workshop is to have the kids create their own designs and then plan a fashion show to display them. Space is limited so contact the library soon to sign up!
New titles this week include Allison Brennan’s new crime thriller titled “The Sorority Murder.” Lucas Vega is a young man whose bizarre obsession, the mysterious death of a sorority girl, leads him on an unexpected path. Candace Swain was last seen at a sorority party. Her body was found two weeks later, but the case quickly went cold. Years later, Lucas is interning at the medical examiner’s office when he stumbles on some new evidence. Unfortunately, the police are unconvinced. So Lucas starts a new podcast attempting to put the pieces of the puzzle of Candace’s last hours alive together. He encourages those who knew her to call in with information. Lucas even scores a guest host, Regan Merritt, who is a former US marshal to share her expertise. As the tips come in, Lucas and Regan believe they are on to something big especially once they learn one of their callers has turned up dead. Each tip hints at a dark, secret life Candace and her sorority sisters led. Before they can solve the murder, Lucas must come to grips with his own secrets.
The Bandera Library is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7.
