Lady Bulldogs get first win of district on Senior Night

By Chris Darus
The Bandera Prophet

Friday was a great day for Lady Bulldog Soccer as they celebrated the team’s three seniors and then got their first win in district competition this season with a 5-1 victory against Great Hearts Northern Oaks. It was also the Lady Bulldogs first district win since the 18-19 season.
Things weren't looking good for the home team as the Lady Griffins scored their only goal less than four minutes in, but Bandera tightened up the defense to keep Northern Oaks off the scoreboard for the rest of the evening.
The team honored the three seniors, Lauren Benedict, Hannah Edwards and Mia Ramirez, all multi-year players for Bandera, before the game.
All three figured prominently in the Bandera win with Edwards scoring three goals and Benedict and Ramirez playing great on the defensive side of the ball.
Bandera’s other goals were scored by Rihanna Garza and Madi Lewis.
“Our Goalkeepers, Bietzel Gonzalez and Tatum Hubble combined for eight saves while allowing only one goal. Along with our seniors, standouts in the match were Ashlyn Brown, Yadi Mendoza, Jaydin Coiner, Mallorie Powell, and Sydney Jaeger.
With effort and teamwork, the small improvements daily are paying dividends on the field,” coach Keith Kuenzel said.
Bandera will take to the road to face Wimberley’s Lady Texans Tuesday.
