Bandera ISD releases statement on social media threat

By Jessica Nohealapa’ahi
The Bandera Prophet

Bandera ISD today investigated a purported threat made against the district via social media. Authorities determined there was and is no credible threat, according to Superintendent Gary Bitzkie.
Please read the district’s full statement here:

“This morning, Bandera ISD was made aware of a social media post related to the safety and security of our BISD staff and students. The district, in conjunction with law enforcement, has taken swift, precautionary measures to ensure the safety of BISD. We have identified the originator of the message and have determined that there is NO threat to the school community.
The safety and well-being of our staff and students is of utmost importance. While there is no reason to believe our school is in any danger, please know we take all such threats very seriously and take any action necessary to ensure the continued safety of our school communities. Our school administrators work with Bandera law enforcement officials - where warranted - to ensure that all threats are fully investigated and handled appropriately.
Please take time to talk to your child about the appropriate use of social media, and to remind them that their actions and words have consequences. We are grateful to our families for partnering with us to keep a close watch on everything that happens in and around our schools.”
