Bandera ISD
Baseball
Varsity
Varsity baseball had another home and home series last week, this time against the number two state ranked team in 4A, the Boerne Greyhounds.
Boerne took Tuesdays’ game there in four innings, 17-0, with the Greyhounds scattering 13 hits and breaking the game open with an 8 run second inning.
Friday saw the ‘Hounds travel to Bandera with pretty much the same result, this time a 16-0 win.
It was a tight game early and going into the top of the fifth, with the score 2-0 in favor of Boerne, the ’Hounds plated 14 runs for the inning to end the contest.
The Bulldogs struggled at the plate, recording just one hit while committing four errors.
Bandera will host the Texans on Friday in another home series.
Friday has been designated Little League Day so anyone wearing their Little League jersey will get free admission. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.

JV
The JV ‘Dogs played Canyon Lake’s Hawks in a doubleheader last Monday with Alex Rodriguez and Marcos Ramirez on the mound for the game, but the Hawks managed a 6-2 win in the opener.
AJ Cruz and Layne Bourgeois pitched game two, but the Hawks got the best of that duo, taking another win, this an 8-2 decision.

Softball
The Lady Bulldogs hosted the Lady Billies of Fredericksburg Friday.
Cailin Ortiz was in the circle for Bandera as both teams scored early, with Fred taking a 4-2 lead.
A scoreless second inning moved into a high scoring third that saw 9 runs scored, 7 by Fred, to give them an 11-4 lead. Fred scored 7 more runs in the next two innings to bring the game to an early close after five innings with an 18-4 win.
Bandera recorded five hits and nine errors and Fred had 14 hits and a single error.

Track and Field
Bandera Track and Field took a road trip down 173 S. for the Devine Invitational last Wednesday.
With the meet the final tune up before the district meet in Canyon Lake on April 11 and 13, Bandera’s varsity Bulldogs finished second in the field of 15 with 94 points.
With many competitors peaking at the right time to advance in district and beyond, there were quite a few personal records as well as a new school record broken.
Of note, Tyler Moore moved to the number two spot in 4A this season as he reset his school record in the 300m Hurdles with a nice 38.40 plus took the gold in the 110m Hurdles, Liam DiMarchi with double golds in Discus and Shot Put and Braden Cox winning the 1600M run.
The JV Bulldogs finished fifth with 52 points.
