Bandera ISD recognitions to be featured on Mulberry Street water tank

Bandera City Council members approved the design to be painted on the Mulberry Street elevated water storage tank, which will feature the Lady Bulldogs Cross Country State Champions.
Bandera ISD Superintendent Gary Bitzkie on Tuesday presented council a suggested schematic of the tower design. He said the tower would be striped, with the Bulldog logo on one side and a “B” on the other - which would be visible from the football field stands.
A photo of Bandera’s water tower is in very Chili’s in the state, Bitzkie said, adding “the coolest and most historic” water towers have simple designs.
The girls cross country team - which won four consecutive state championships from 2014 to 2017 - will be featured. There was conversation about recognizing the Academic Decathlon national championship, as well as future acknowledgements, at the district’s expense.
The city has committed a $20,000 grant to painting the water tower, and the difference will be covered by the school district, which will have exclusive use of the tank for district recognitions.
