The American Legion Post 410, 147 Legion Dr. in Lakehills, is open to the public every day except Thursdays, from 3 p.m. They serve home cooked meals every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. For $8 a plate, you get an entree, sides and beverage. Desserts are available.

The Lakehills United Methodist Church, 150 Ave. J in Lakehills, offers a free community meal, Bread of Life, every Monday on school days, at 5 p.m.
In addition, the church offers a Food Pantry every other week and they will do it again on Friday, July 22, from 10 a.m. to noon. Call 830-751-2404 for more information or follow on Facebook.
The Back to School Bash, sponsored by Hill Country Samaritans, will take place on Saturday, July 30, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the Lakehills Community Center, 11225 PR 37.
Once again Hill Country Samaritans and Bandera ISD are inviting you to join in celebrating our young people and the beginning of school. Bring a warm smile, table, chairs, banners, information, a treat to hand out and let our area families get to know you. As a reminder, there is nothing sold at the Bash.
The Lakehills Farmers Market will be open on Saturday, Aug. 13 and Sept. 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 101 Center St., off FM 1283. They are seeking more vendors to support our community. They have partnered with River City Produce; order by phone at 210-271-0164, to pick up at the market. Cash and cards accepted. For more information, call 830-205-3091.
The Pipe Creek Dancehall Market Days will be held on Saturdays, Sept. 17, Nov. 19 and Dec. 10, always 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, text 210-854-6577 and leave a message. Vendors should email pipecreekdancehall@gmail.com for an application.
The Lakehills Area Library, 7200 FM 1283, has a food pantry, with fruits and veggies, available during open hours. Stop by from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays; and 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturdays.

The Silver Sage and San Antonio Food Bank will hold a free food distribution on Monday, July 11, from 10 a.m. to noon.
The Cajun Festival, Sept. 24, is the major fundraiser for the center and they are seeking volunteers. There is a place for everyone; call Barbara Engel to sign up at 830-460-0600.
