Back to School Bash to provide supplies for Bandera County students

By Jessica Nohealapa’ahi
The Bandera Prophet

Again this year, the Hill Country Samaritans will host the Back to School Bash to help prepare students for the coming school year. The event will be Saturday, July 30, from 4:30-7:30 p.m., at the Lakehills Community Center.
Everything is free and open to all public, private and homeschool students, pre-k through 12th grade. Students must be present to receive any items or services.
Organizers are preparing to give away 650 backpacks filled with school supplies organized by grade, plus around 70 at the Medina Children's Home and 100 in Utopia on a future date. Volunteers will assist with school registration and lunch service applications. Also provided will be school immunizations (bring vaccine and insurance cards if you have them), haircuts, $10 physicals, crafts, games, activities, prize drawings, a petting zoo, and more.
Hill Country Samaritans is a 501c3 Christian non-profit, and has been in existence since 2018. The board and all of its members are volunteers, so each donation goes directly to fund the Back to School Bash.
Financial donations may be made through PayPal on the Hill Country Samaritans website (hillcountrysamaritans.org), and entire shopping packages and pledges are available for organizations and churches as well. For vaccine concerns and eligibility questions, call Kim at 830-796-6169.
