The Bandera ISD Education Foundation, working parallel with the Bandera Independent School District to provide support for teachers and staff, is preparing for its annual prize posse parade.
At the beginning of every year, teachers may apply for grants to help enhance educational opportunities outside the scope of the district’s normal operating budget. In the fall, these grants are awarded during the prize posse parade at each campus.
The Foundation funds these grants via donations and two primary fundraisers - Baubles & Boots, held in early spring/late winter, and an annual Lead Donor Drive. Since 2006, the Foundation has awarded more than $450,000 in grants at every campus in the district.
In September, the Foundation will host a Lead Donor Breakfast, during which those who have donated $1,000 or more are recognized and thanked for their generosity. Students and teachers present programs from grants awarded the previous year, providing an opportunity for donors to see the impact their contributions have. Last year, the Bandera Middle School SSEP team discussed an experiment dealing with microgravity into space.
The Bandera ISD Education Foundation is a non-profit 501c3 organization comprised solely of volunteers. The next Baubles & Boots event is set for Feb. 25, 2023, at Antler Oaks Lodge.
