Keep in Beat with the Bandera Library
By Ashley Montes
Bandera Kronkosky Public Library
The Bandera Library now has a Sorenson Videophone available for the public. The videophone makes it easier for those who are deaf or hard of hearing who need the assistance of an interpreter to communicate via telephone. The videophone offers a deaf-centric hardware with a camera and interpreting services that helps create an easier communicating experience. Stop by the library to learn more about the Sorenson Videophone.
On Wednesday, Aug. 24, at 11 a.m., the Sew Sweet Quilting group will meet outside the library before heading out on a Field trip. The group is great for those who love quilting or may want to learn more about the art of quilting! For more information on the Sew Sweet Quilting group, contact the Bandera Public Library.
To celebrate the end of Breastfeeding Awareness Month the library will be hosting a “Feed-in” event during Story Time on Thursday, Aug. 25, at 10:30 a.m. New and breastfeeding mothers are welcome to join us and learn more about the world of breastfeeding. This is a chance for new mothers to learn more from other mothers as well as spread awareness of the issues they face when breastfeeding. Because this event will be held during Story Time, we will have a special guest reader, Kimberly Magness from DSHS, who will be reading “Babies Nurse” by Pheobe Fox.
Our Watercolor Class is meeting on Mondays, at 10 a.m., in the Downstairs Meeting Room. When the weather is permitting, they may take a field trip to the Bandera City Park and paint under the beautiful cypress trees. If you would like to learn how to Watercolor or would like to meet artist like you, join our weekly Watercolor class.
Just one week left until the end of our Summer Reading Challenge. Our Summer Reading Challenge consists of 14 titles from different countries around the world. Whoever reads the most books from our reading list and turns in their reading guide by the end of August wins a prize. Do not forget to drop off your reading guide at the library before next Wednesday, Aug. 31.
