Bandera takes one gold and three silvers at Bandera City Park

The Bandera Prophet

Bandera hosted the Steve Golemon Memorial Invitational meet at Bandera City Park Saturday morning.
The event, named after the former coach, that led Bandera's Lady Bulldogs to four state championships, was well attended by teams from as far away as Brackett, Uvalde and La Vernia.
Bandera won one team gold and three team silvers in the varsity and JV divisions with quite a few top 20 finishers.

Girls Varsity
The Bandera Lady Bulldogs finished second in a field of 14 teams, getting edged out by Lytle and ahead of Pleasanton for the team podium positions.
Lytle won the event with 37 points, Bandera scored 63 and Pleasanton had 85 points in the 118-runner field.
Rounding out the top five were Floresville and Devine with 110 and 140 points respectively.
Bandera was led by Trinity Butler, who finished third overall, and all five of the Bulldogs points earners finished in the top 19 places for the 3200M event.

3, T. Butler, 12:53.38, 9, Makayla Gonzales, 13:12.53, 15, Danielle Gonzales, 13:19.89, 17, Gracie Bankston, 13:29.41, 19, Carlye Niccum, 13:35.140
Also competing were Ashlynn Brown (14:02.37) and Kinlee Lawlis (14:14.27).

Girls JV
The JV girls won the event taking team gold with all of their scorers in the top 11 places in team scoring. Kierstyn Brown was the top finisher for Bandera finishing in fourth place out of 86 runners.
The Lady Bulldogs scored 38 points to beat Lytle (49) and Floresville (73) for the top three spots. Rounding out the top five teams were Pleasanton and Somerset.

4, K. Brown, 15:02.53, 5, Abril Rodriquez, 15:09.68, 8, Madelyn Garza, 15:21.05, 10, Illiana Silver, 15:33.05, 11, Bietzel Gonzales, 15:36.31
Also running were Riley Lalanne (15:55.85) and Lauren Meier (16:01.44).

Boys Varsity
The Bulldogs took team silver for the 5K race with 89 points, finishing behind a tough Lytle squad (25 points) and ahead of La Vernia (108). Pleasanton (111) and Hondo (141) finished fourth and fifth.
Braden Cox led the way for Bandera with an individual silver and was one of two runners to keep Lytle from sweeping the top five places, Uvalde’s Jack Collins was the other finishing just behind Cox.
All five points scorers for Bandera finished in the top 34 out of 101 contestants.

Kyle Moore also ran for Bandera (20:53.58).

Boys JV
The JV also brought home team silver in the 5K, finishing with 60 points, well behind Lytle (21) and in front of La Vernia (79).
Floresville, Hondo and Ambleside were the other three teams that competed in the 65 runner class.
Bandera’s Fili Quintero in sixth set the pace for the Bulldogs with the teams points earners in the top 21 places.

6, F.Quintero, 20:30.82, 11, Nino Martinez, 21:03.66, 13, Logan Klappenbach, 21:38.40, 14, Lane Timmons, 21:40.25, 16, Hayden Swalve, 21:57.43
Ben Adamietz (22:03.23) and Ashton Robinson (22:08.67) also finished for Bandera.  

Teams will head to the A&M Invitational Friday and/or Ingram this Saturday in preparation for the district meet in Fredericksburg on Oct. 18.
