Bulldog JV Football Report

By Brady Keane
BHS Coaching staff

JV Blue
Bandera made a handful of big plays in Thursday night’s game, but untimely mistakes and penalties hurt the Bulldogs late as Hondo scored the game-winning touchdown with just five seconds remaining secure a 22-14 win.
The game started with fireworks for the Bulldogs as sophomore Dylan Peace found freshman Jeffry Thomas on a 98-yard touchdown pass on the third play of the night to give the Bulldogs a 6-0 lead.
But it was a defensive battle from there, as Hondo scored one first half touchdown while the Bulldogs’ offense struggled to capitalize on a handful of promising drives throu gh the first two quarters.
The score remained 8-6 late into the fourth until Hondo broke off a 7 0-yard touchdown to take a 14-6 lead with less than four minutes to go.
Bandera did not waver, though, as the Bulldogs gave themselves a chance to tie or force overtime when Thomas made an impressive
catch and broke away from the Hondo secondary for a 71-yard touchdown. Peace connected with Thomas again on the two-point conversion, tying the game at 14-14 with about three minutes remaining in the game.
Hondo was able to drive down the field and score just before the final buzzer, securing a 22-14 win. The loss was the first of the season for the JV Blue team, which fell to 4-1.

JV Grey
The JV Grey team took on Hondo in its second game of the year and
struggled early before showing improvement on both sides of the ball in a 36-0 finish. Quarterback James Bower connected with wide receiver Caleb Tippit several times in the early going to help the Bulldogs move the ball into scoring position, while Colton Hauer and Riley Moran ran the ball hard between the tackles from start to finish.
The Bulldogs showed a lot of grit, toughness and improved play from
their game at Comfort and will look to continue taking steps in the right direction before the start of district play.
