About the Authors
Words have always been comfort food for Gail Kittleson. After instructing expository writing and English as a Second Language, she began writing memoir. Now, intrigued by the World War II era, Gail creates women’s historical fiction from her northern Iowa home and also facilitates writing workshops/retreats.
She and her husband, a retired Army chaplain, enjoy their grandchildren and in winter, Arizona’s Mogollon Rim Country. You can count on Gail’s heroines to ask honest questions, act with integrity, grow in faith, and face hardships with spunk.

Lynn Dean dictated her first stories to her mother before she was old enough to write them down for herself.
After majoring in architecture at Texas A&M University and traveling the US and Europe with her Air Force husband, she published her first writing project--an interactive Texas History course popular with homeschool families. Her novels draw from the history, cultures, and people of Texas. Lynn writes and speaks about what she loves: God, family, history, and how those things fit together.
Lynn and her husband enjoy living in San Antonio and spend most weekends exploring the Texas Hill Country.

Michael Barr is a retired teacher and principal with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas and a master’s degree in History and Government from Texas State. His books include Remembering Bulldog Turner, Cloyce Box – 6’4” and Bulletproof, and Rope Burns and Lead Poisoning. His articles have appeared in Old West Magazine, True West Magazine, Southwestern Historical Quarterly and Texas Highways Magazine. His “Hindsights” column appears in the Fredericksburg Standard, the Johnson City Record-Courier, and TexasEscapes.com. He is a regular contributor to Rock and Vine Magazine.
Michael and his wife Ginger live in Fredericksburg.
Gina Lister, born in the eastern Tri-State metropolitan area, met her future husband while visiting the fertile hills of the Palouse region out west. Naturally, she moved to Texas for her first job. She married her true love and under military orders they traveled America and Europe, returning to their Hill Country home between each assignment. While in Europe, Gina enjoyed planning amazing and intricate family vacations. Those experiences translated into a love of storytelling to preserve for her two young children the rich memories of the life they were living. This is her first published fictional writing.
No matter where Shannon McFarland lives, she will always consider Brady, Texas her home. Shannon loves history, road-trips, and finding humor in everyday life. She dreams of publishing more stories, owning a bookstore, and raising chickens. Shannon currently resides in San Antonio with her very patient husband…who has had no clue (until now) about her dream of raising chickens.
