The Bandera Natural History Museum expanded its cultural influence Saturday evening when the New Spain Art Hall became a wing of music.
Pianist Doreen Howard tickled the ivories of the resident grand piano, entertaining a sold-out crowd of more than 60 guests and museum volunteers with a collection of classical and jazz tunes.
The program, A Night at the Museum, A Taste of Jazz, included Howard’s renditions of DeBussy’s Clair de Lune; Gershwin’s Summertime, I Got Plenty o’ Nuttin’, I Got Rhythm and Rhapsody in Blue; and the beloved Over the Rainbow, famously sung by Judy Garland, among many other 50s-era favorites during an hour-long performance.
The Bandera Natural History Museum is open Wednesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. For more information on special events and performances, watch their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/BanderaNHM, or go to https://banderanhm.org/.
